„I speak fluent…“

One of the biggest advantages a higher education abroad has to offer is the opportunity to learn a foreign language – or in some cases even more than one. Knowledge of foreign languages is more important than ever on the job market today. Moreover, this knowledge is a great personal gain as well: In the scope of your studies abroad you will be able to learn speaking a foreign language fluently on-site – a chance you may not be offered frequently in your later life.

A plus in your CV

Employers today are looking more than ever for university graduates who are able to prove their adaptability, independence and sophistication by their successful international studies.

A life experience

Studying in a foreign country is a valuable experience for anyone. A higher education abroad is one of the best ways to independence and self-confidence as well as the ability to deal easily with unknown surroundings and challenges

A variety of academic choices

By extending your focus from your home country to selected universities all over the world you are opening up various new opportunities for yourself regarding your choice of subject or study program. This increases your chance of finding a program that corresponds perfectly to your interests, wishes and abilities.

Discover new things

When deciding whether to study in a foreign country, one should also take into account the most obvious advantage of a longer stay abroad: You will be offered the opportunity to get to know a country of your choice, to experience its culture, travel, meet new people – and make new friends.

What does it take?

In order to make your studies abroad a success, you should consider:

Language requirements

Good previous knowledge of the respective local language is strongly recommended in order to be able to successfully study in a foreign country. Prospective students should have sufficient language skills to be able to follow lectures and find their way around unknown surroundings. For many foreign universities, passing a language test is a prerequisite for enrolment, e.g. the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) in English-speaking countries.

Financial requirements

Depending on the living costs in the respective country, the mere stay in your prospective place of study may be cheaper or more expensive than in your home country. However, travelling expenses and tuition fees must be considered as well. Not every country allows International Students to work during their studies. There are various possibilities of receiving financial support during your studies abroad (Finances).

Personal requirements

The choice of leaving your home country to study abroad takes a lot of courage – students planning a higher education in a foreign or at least partly foreign country should be aware that a high level of independence, openness and adaptability will be required from them. Even in a place of study such as the United Kingdom or France, which many Europeans seem to be very familiar with, difficult or unfamiliar situations may arise. However, anyone who can look upon these situations as a challenge and stay positive should definitely consider studying abroad. Curiosity and a love for adventure will help tremendously in this undertaking. If you are open to new things and would like to finally enjoy a little independence, an unforgettable time is waiting for you abroad.
